The father of African literature is no more. After a short but severe illness, Chinua Achebe passed away at the age of 82. The Nigerian writer and academic, has been celebrated as one of the most inspiring and important writer of the continent.

According to Nelson Mandela, Achebe was a literary figure

in whose company prison walls fell down.
