Impressions from Istanbul – Eufrika Photo Report
Istanbul’s streets are characterized by a diverse atmosphere these days, ranging from violent clashes between protestors and anti-riot police forces up to peaceful and calm szenes in Gezi Park.
Since the beginning of the protests, Robin Rothweiler has captured some striking images.

Monday 3rd June: Protestors gather the whole night on Taksim Square chanting “Tayyip Istifa” (Tayyip step down). People sing, dance and discuss the past days events in their city’s streets. One main topic of debate are the violent clashes in other neighborhoods of the city. © Robin Rothweiler

Free food distributions on the streets have become common. It illustrates the enormous solidarity among the protestors since the very beginning of the demonstrations. © Robin Rothweiler

In newly installed medical aid sections, volunteers provide medical care and first aid for other injured protestors. Particularly the brutal use of tear gas by police forces is the reason why these helpers are so needed these days. © Robin Rothweiler
