Malawi-Tanzania border dispute enters next round

As reported last month, Tanzania and Malawi were trying to find an agreement over the position of the water border on Lake Malawi. The dispute between the governments goes into the next round with both countries preparing to present the case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague for mediation.

Tanzania released a new map demarcating the border in the middle of the lake for official use in all public spheres in the country.

The dispute heated up with the issuance of exploration rights of oil and gas to the UK based company Surestream.
